Every winter, the landscape in the Cantabrian mountain range forsakes its colours and White; the colour of coldness, of ice and frost, is all that prevails. This is a period during which wildlife and vegetation fight for survival, as they endure temperatures far below zero. |

In Greek mythology, Hades (Lord of the underworld) kidnapped Persephone in order to marry her. But Zeus commanded that Hades bring her back to her mother Demeter, goddess of the Earth. However, Hades had other plans and deceived Persephone by making her eat the food of the dead, causing Zeus to banish Persephone to spending six months with Demeter and another six with Hades. During the time his daughter spent with the latter, Demeter became extremely sad and sombre, in the process creating the autumn and winter seasons. Put together over the last three decades, this feature shows the colour that Demeter chose to wear during this part of the year.
